Ralph Michaelis / "Nanawale"

Named for the neighborhood from where this wood came, this tree was ,like me, scarred by years of community service. In the tree's case, it served as a signpost for yard sales and missing dog posters. For some reason people who nail these home made signs seem to think that the biggest possible nail is the only one to be trusted to hold such a vital message to this poor tree. The resulting scars add character to this vase. It's a good example of how the tragic abuse and loss of a magnificent tree can be turned to a thing of lasting beauty.
